We, the people of St.
Dominic Parish, Philadelphia,
PA., lay and clergy together,
gratefully acknowledge, accept, and attest that we believe that our Christian
Community, following the Roman Catholic Tradition, has been established in Holmesburg, in the county of Philadelphia, State of
Pennsylvania, as the direct intention and act of Our Lord, brother and friend,
Jesus Christ, to witness to and to nurture both this Community and the entire
community within which we live.
Having declared the above, we
acknowledge that there are certain goals of Mission.
We accept those goals as the gift of Love given by Almighty God to this
Community. We will give ourselves
in covenant of service with the fidelity of Jesus, Son of God. We wish to carry out this Ministry under
the careful guidance of the Holy Spirit.
We see the duties of Mission as:
- Faithful WITNESS
in our individual and our Community lives.
- Faithful NURTURING
of our children in both the needs of our local and world communities, and in
dedication to our own families and the Parish family, and to the Holmesburg family.
- Faithful PRAYER
in our private, individual lives, in our family lives, and in our Parish
family and public lives.
- The CELEBRATION
of ourselves as the friends of Jesus Christ, totally loved by Him, as we
mark the seasons of our lives with the Eucharist and the other Sacraments
of the Roman Catholic Church.
- COOPERATION within our Parish community that we may
accomplish the tasks of our Mission
in Unity of purpose and strength and in support of each other.
Together with entire
Archdiocese of Philadelphia, we pray to the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit, through the intercession of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, our
Patroness in Philadelphia,
through the Diocesan Patrons, Ss. Peter and Paul, our local Saints, John
Neumann and Katherine Drexel, and our Parish Patron, St. Dominic, that this
offering of ourselves be acceptable.
May God bless us and make us holy.
